Create new song from an existing song

Can I edit an existing song and save it as a new song? I want to retain the original, but use it as the basis for something new.

Or is there some kind of a workaround...maybe select and copy 100% of an existing song, and paste it into a blank new song.

select the edit (pencil) icon.
Select DUPLICATE
this new copy of the original song has an added number at the end of the title.
You may edit it any way you like. Be sure it is titled in a way that won't be confusing later.
