Why do we need to register in the app?

It seems odd to need to register to get to the forums.
In the old app it would jut take you there.
Obviously I'm signed in since I'm writing this

You don't need to register nor do you need to login.
You can just use it.
If you want to post you have to register and login.
It's exactly the same as it was before.
Now, the forums it's just more conveniently located inside the app.

Okay so you register and go to the forums from within the app.
It's now a two step process.
1 select the forum icon then
2 scroll to the bottom and select Full Site.

There may be a bug here.
It's only giving me the site in the left side window.

I would recommend to use the iReal Dark Mobile setting instead of Full Site.
At the bottom of the page, where it says vB4 Default style, change it to iReal Dark Mobile on iPad.

I logged in and switched to iReal Dark Mobile on the ipad but I'm still only getting 1/3 of the forum page .

You are supposed to see the forums in just a portion of the screen, the Dark Mobile theme is designed to provide all the necessary content without taking up the whole screen.
If you prefer viewing the forums in full screen double tap the forums tab at the bottom and Safari will open at the Forums page.
