The Boy’s Night Out - Jimmy Van Heusen

Pupino,

A couple of tips.

If the first beat of a measure is left blank it can cause playback problems. If you want the previous chord to play on the first beat of the new measure, rewrite the chord or put in a slash (/). If you want no chord to play, put in the No Chord abbreviation (N.C.).

It looks like you wanted to fit the whole Coda on one line by giving only 3 beats each to four measures, but it's confusing. They will still play four beats each, because that's the time signature. If you want to switch to 3/4 time for those measures you have to specify the change in the Time signature pull-down menu. Otherwise it'll be clearer if you lengthen those measures to 4 beats each and let the Coda wrap to the next line.

Cheers,
Jer

Bob,

Here's an example altered from one of your examples where leaving the first beat blank results in an error. That's why I think it's best to avoid it.

Bar Repeat Signs, Slash, N-C- - Example 1 - Example

HI Jer,
Odd, what device/system are you using? Your example plays as I described (without error) on both my iPad and my android phone (ie. chord(s) placed later in the measure after a blank space(s) sounds on beat 1 of the bar unless a slash is placed there)

We are in agreement, leaving the 1st space blank in a bar that has a chord(s) is not good.
Not a Mac user, so I didn’t know that macs behaved differently in this instance, though that’s not surprising to me.

Thanks for your detailed explanation.
