Steely Dan's "Lost" Song
So, here's a rarity - the chord changes to Steely Dan's infamous "lost" song that was supposed to be on the Gaucho album. After they had completed the recording of this song, an asst. engineer at the studio completely erased it.
There are three versions of this song by S. Dan online (YouTube), but the two studio versions are of very poor sound quality. One is a "demo" version w/ only elec. piano & bass - this (below) is not that (interestingly, that version uses the intro chords from "Deacon Blues" as an intro).
I listened to the version that has a full rhythm section, guitar, etc. It took me a loooong time, since the sound is so muddy. But I persevered (!).
There is also a live version of S. Dan actually performing this song at a "Rarities Night" concert they gave in 2011 at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. But it's a whole step lower than the "original" recording, & unfortunately, the performance sounds a little under-rehearsed (which maybe tells you how challenging this song is, if the 1st-rate pros in S. Dan's road band struggled w/ it).
Lastly, sorry this is two separate pages, but this song has a LOT of chord changes, & trying to squeeze it all onto one page would make it very hard to read. If anybody wants to try that, have at it.
