Realbook Real Book Changes Chords

Are you guys honestly telling me you play with people who have 2000 songs ( that means the melody Not just the chords ) memorized?

At a jazz venue one rarely if ever gets requests. It's more like a concert.

At events like weddings and corporate parties the requests are rarely for obscure tunes but mostly for standards that are pretty familiar. Usually at least one person in the band knows it. As for melodies, I almost always play those by ear, with the changes for a hint.

2000 tunes would be pretty much. I guess when I was working I could do about 350 or so standards right off. If you called Tones for Joan's Bones I'd be at a loss. The playlist in my head is quite a bit shorter now, of course.
