Ralph Chicorel songs

This is a song my dad wrote. On the second time through when it's supposed to go back to the top, it does for only 4 bars and repeats back to measure 1 when it should be going to measure 5 on the way to the B section/2nd ending. I can't seem how to fix this!!! Any help with it would be appreciated.

That Girl Over There 1 (issue W Turnaround ) - Ralph Chicorel

Does this play as you want?

That Girl Over There 1 (issue W Turnaround ) 1 - Ralph Chicorel

Form:
IN, AABA the form plays twice, taking the coda the final time.

I revised the spacing, removed the Segno, DS instruction, final repeat bracket and added rehearsal marks.

When sharing songs of your own composition, if you could include a link to either an audio file or YouTube, your original chord chart would have some context for others

Danchic,

In the bridge, are those the correct bass notes under the series of G minor chords?

Cheers,
Jer

Hi Bob. Not having requested something before, didn't know and I would agree. I'll check out your corrections. And will try and find the file to match the request. I'll let you know what I learn.

Chords?

Hi Jerry. Thank you for feedback. Im attempting to send the lead sheet so you can see for yourself. Though I can't figure out how or where to do so.

Hi Bob, it does! I'll have to study what you did. Because for the life of me, couldn't fix it. I'm trying to figure out how to upload the song, for context. Thank you!

By the way Jerry. I enjoyed listening to your music on your website and want to circle back to hear again. Regards - Dan

That odd unintended repeat of the 1st 4 bars of the A is probably the player's way of responding to instructions it doesn’t understand. The unnecessary final repeat bracket and Segno / DS instruction may have conflicted with the 1st & 2nd ending Volta’s. Form repeats are set by the player repeat setting. Using DS al Coda will include the coda as part of the repeating form.

Thanks for sharing your dad's chart.

That's a really fine compliment, Dan. Thanks very much.

And thanks for the lead sheet.

Since it doesn't specify the bass notes for those the three Gm chords, if you want to put the moving notes from them in the bass they would be Gm/G - Gm#7/F# - Gm7/F. And you could continue the bass progression by putting an E in the bass of the next C9 chord.

It's a nice romantic tune.

Cheers,
Jer

Thanks, Jerry. I'm trying to figure out how to upload Dad's tune here (it's stored on my other Mac/iTunes) and more of his music online for free. You can find some on Soundcloud.com either under my site (dcjazzguitar) or possibly under his name Ralph Chiocrel. If interested of course :) He's approaching 90, still composing/recording. He's made over 15? Albums or CDs. And two musicals. But mostly for family and friends these past 20 years. I'm trying to change that awareness while he's still with us :) If you Google Ralph Chicorel, you might find some interesting tales about him. He was in a lawsuit over the copywriter of Strangers in the Night back in the '60s. He wrote a tune called You Are My Love. I'd love for you to hear some of his stuff, knowing your taste in music, I'd be surprised if you didn't love his stuff :)

Thanks again for the suggestions, duly noted and will look to check it out.

As soon as several of your dad's tunes are iRp charts, I’ll start a Ralph Chicorel songs thread.
Is is still dancing?

4 years later... Seeing your last suggestion Jerry. I'll look into it. My dad (still alive at 93) has written well over 500 songs, was in a lawsuit over Strangers In the night with Bert Kaempfert (he settled back in '72). My dad's version is nicer than Strangers. He was influenced by all the great composers of our times, big lover of Jobim which influenced many of his tunes. Anyway... Thanks.

Dan,

Good to hear from you after all this time. I'd certainly be interested in seeing more of your father's tunes.

Cheers,
Jer

My pet project this year is to upload his music into the cloud/music services.

I'll also try to upload some more of his stuff I have in irp format... But the lead sheets melody are necessary...

You guys are great and I appreciate your interest. My father is an unknown brilliant composer (like many brilliant unknown musicians)... He deserves accolades for some music created thru the years...

I'll upload some more charts and accompanying lead sheets...

Blues on A Sunny Day

This is one of my favorites from my dad's collection. Blues on Sunny Day - a haunting ballad... Originally recorded back in 1963. I'll dig for the lead sheet and lyrics.

How can I upload a jpg file of the lead sheet?

Here’s how I do that.
I open the Forums in my browser instead of through the iRp app.
Here’s the link to this thread:
https://forums.irealpro.com/threads/ralph-chicorel-songs.25105/

From the write/edit screen to which I’d like to add the jpg attachment, I select “Go Advanced”.
Scroll down to Additional Options/Attachments and select “Manage Attachments”.

At the top right select +Add Files / Choose File / <I select Photo Library> (your choice May be different)

Select your image, “use” / “Upload”. a thumbnail should appear at the bottom of the attachment screen.

Select “Done” , then complete your post and select “post quick reply” or whatever your posting button at the bottom of posting screen says…

Good luck
:))BOB
