Jazz Practice Exercises

Luisw62, aren't there quite a few measure bars dropped in your studies? I'm not quite sure what you intended.

Here are some changes from the exercises in the book, The Jazzmaster Cookbook, by Jim Grantham -- Jazz Theory and Improvisation. It is a very systematic and thoughtful book, a lifetime of study. He also sells CDs in all keys with a real rhythm section playing the changes, but I thought some folks in the iReal would find these useful as a starter. The exercises make more sense when you get the book as there is chord scale theory that can be applied to each exercise.

For your help

Are you trying to find a book of exercises for piano containing four-cord voicings (e.g., vamps, turnarounds) that preferably are rootless?

Perhaps "4-finger chord voicing" for jazz guitar?
Check out the guitar chord display feature of the app. You can select different voicings to display for each chord.
(doesn't affect the player feature)
