Dominant 7th Practice

Hi folks,

Newbie here. I truly love this site and have been using the Blues backgrounds with my online students. I'm now diving in to Jazz and would like to know if there is a Dominant 7th exercise that allows my to repeat a single dominant 7th chord. The one that I have downloaded only plays one measure at a time (although the changes are written for two measures).

Thanks.

Hi TW,
You can probably find something you can use in this thread.

https://forums.irealpro.com/threads/jazz-practice-exercises.992/

However, it is super easy to make your own exercise chart.

Making a new chart

Or use any existing song chart, LOOP just a group of bars you want to play over and over……

Try practice mode (graduation hat).

Have fun

Since iReal pro can transpose to any key instantly, it's best to not state the key in the title. Just set your preferred key as the default key on the info screen when you make the chart.

If you list the composer name on the chart as ‘Exercise’ all your practice charts will be easy to find.

Another time challenge exercise…

Another time challenge exercise…
I was shocked that on the first pass I sped up! You ever have somebody kick off a tempo and the bass player just kicks in with his own tempo.? That’s what I did really a good exercise for locking in the actual counted off tempo.

Cherokee 1 Beat per Chord - Ray Noble

So, of course you need to turn off the drums on all of these time challenge exercise. This one, however, you may want to start it with click on 2 and 4.this is only the A section of Cherokee. This kind of editing takes a little longer, so I didn’t do the bridge.

Inversion Chords practice

Uso el primer compás en posición fundamental y el segundo en segunda inversión.

I use the first measure in root position and the second in second inversion.
