Import New Tune From Editor [OLD THREAD]

Hi,

I'm having some trouble importing a new tune (that I created in the editor) to my iPod Touch. In the editor I click the "song to device button," and while the blue underlined link shows up on my computer, it is not blue and underlined on my iPod. This, however, is off and on, and it sometimes will work. When the link does work, I select it to import it, but when it shows up on my iPod screen, it is only a blank page with the title (the chord symbols and barlines mysteriously disappear). When I select the link from my computer, the file opens in the editor just fine with all chords intact.

Hmmm I am not sure what the problem is.
Are you running the current version of Mac editor? (v0.6.4)
And either v2.6 or v3 iReal book on your iPod touch?
And your iPod touch iOS4.1?
And are you using Apple Mail to send the email from your Mac editor to your iPod touch?

When you collect the email on your iPod, it should look like iReal book song code, all in blue and underlined. Just tap on it (do not copy/paste) and iReal book should open and import it.

I am running v0.6.4 of the Mac editor, v3 of iReal book, iOS4.1, and Apple Mail.

I did a clean reinstall of both the app and the Mac editor, and I can now transfer consistently (the blue and underlined text now shows up); however, when I open the files, they still show up as blank pages with the title. Any ideas?

I need to try to figure out what is happening, but let me know if this is the tune.

Also is this the only tune you are having problems with or are all of them faulting?

Yes, that is the tune; however, any tune I create faults when I import it.

I have the same issue: Trying to send a song or playlist via email I get only code in the body of the message (an not as an attachement):

When sending this to my iPhone it looks the same there and I am not able to import it to iRealbook.

I use Apple Mail version 4.4 and the newest version of iRealbook

Hi Dirk,
just check your version of Mac editor is 0.6.4 also.
There are problems with using gmail and probably hotmail email accounts as the song code can be corrupted. Are you using either of these? We recommend using perhaps your ISP's email system for transferring.
If you need to, you can transfer temporarily to our forum Sandbox (using Playlist to forums,) then connect to there from your iOS device...make sure to delete your post after you have transferred it. As this is a temporary transfer area, we purge posts regularly.

You mention seeing the code in your email and not an attachment, this is correct. It is our code. Normally you would tap on it on your iOS device and iReal book should open and import.

Along the way a couple of spaces were inserted in the code string (probably when wrapped to the next line by your email system. edit out the spaces:

Hi there guys,

I am new to this and ireal book. I've been looking all over for an answer, as I have just created a song on ireal book mac editor and sent it via Mail to the iphone, which opens up ireal book automatically, but does not ask to import the song into it...after checking to see if it did it automatically, it doesn't do that...anyone, please help...as i am keen to enter a few more songs and not sure if this is the way it's going to work..

You could try test-posting it from the editor to the Sandbox section of the Forum. Then see if you can grab it from the forum with the irb app on your phone.

Hello Chrisitude,
Are you using the latest versions of Mac editor (0.6.4) and iReal book (v3.0.4)?
In Mac editor, I presume you are selecting File>Email ... to iOS device, or clicking the Song to Device button?
We have had some problems with sending the code via hotmail and gmail accounts. So if you can use perhaps an email account with your ISP instead, you could try that.
When the song arrives in the email into Mail, it is usually all blue.

You could try to reinstall iReal book on your iPhone.
Also try Bob's suggestion to upload/download from our test-sandbox; or you could tap on any forum song and see if it imports ok.

If you have bought iReal b for Mac you could try sending from that app instead.
