Diminished chord in "GLOSSARY - iReal Pro" thread

Hi, Moderator and Bob,

I've found something in "GLOSSARY - iReal Pro" thread:

QUOTE ========================>

Diminished, Diminished 7th, Half-Diminished
......
The diminished seventh chord contains the further diminished 7th (enharmonicly the 6th) so that all the notes have a step and a half (minor third) between them.
Co=Co7 contains: C,Eb,Gb,Bbb(A)
......
<======================== QUOTE

I believe Co is not the same as Co7 now.
Co = C, Eb, Gb
Co7 = C, Eb, Gb, Bbb(A)

# if my memory serves me right, Co used to be the same as Co7 before, though.

Best,

shin1ro

I didn’t realize anyone actually read the Glossary...... thanks.

Some would say a diminished chord is but a triad.
Others may claim, "every note in a diminished chord (or o7) names it"

My view is the less restrictive one. In most cases they are interchangeable and synonymous. Which certainly makes it easier for improvisation.

Don’t get me started on ▵ vs. ▵7.....

Bob,

That's right, you're talking about the general definition.

But from iRealPro player point view,
the iRealPro player has chosen Co as C Eb Gb and Co != Co7,

So, to avoid iRp users' confusion,
how about adding some description to the thread,
"iReal Pro chords and the scale notes they include",
such as:
"iRealPro player has chosen Co = C Eb Gb, without Bbb(A)" ?

Gabz essentially did that with the chord-note descriptions he included in the "recipe" chart he posted there.
All chords of iReal 2018 a_gk - G.KRISTOF (1of 2)

Now we know Gabz recipe says:
in iRP world,
Co = (C Eb Gb)
Co7 = (C Eb Gb Bbb)

In iRealPro player Co != Co7
- Co7 contains C,Eb,Gb,Bbb(A)
- Co contains C,Eb,Gb
