Creating a song - couple questions

Hi all - have been using iReal as a practice tool for years, but this is my first time creating a song. I'm adapting some pop and sacred music into a jazz context and I want to see what forms feel better, since many of them aren't the usual AABA or whatever.

I'm creating a song, adding the changes and song structures as needed, and I have a couple issues.

1. Once i have the song in, iReal is breaking the line in middle of a bar. In this case it's a waltz, so there might be different number of beats per bar than whatever the standard iReal songs use? I can live with a weird number of bars per line, but I'd prefer ireal not break a line in the middle of a bar!
2. There's one spot in the song where iReal seems to skip over one measure entirely. I've created the form myself and manually added measures and spaces. Any ideas what I could have done wrong here?

it seems ireal exports charts in html format, and this forum doesn't allow html attachments, so I've uplaoded it to my dropbox here, if anyone wants to have a look. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/cirg...ey=bn4lzth6bok94x1l5kll7r4i2&st=lg5zz6bz&dl=0

Thanks in advance!

The “best” answer for your situation depends on your specific chart.

1. 3/4 charts work fine and look better with 4-space bars.
Hard to read when bars wrap across systems (lines)

2. Gotta see it. Post your “work in progress” chart as above

Thanks PDX -

I did figure out my issues after playing with iReal a bit. Adding spaces to manually get the right number of bars per line seems to be the way to go, and iReal skips any bars that don't have a chord symbol in them. (Slightly odd, but it's fine now that I understand it know what to do!)

The next issue is that I'm trying to create an intro vamp, followed by the head, and solo choruses, but I can't get iReal to repeat back to the head, it seems to repeat back to the top of the form.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Tears For Fears

In this chart the first solo chorus seems to go to the right place (first repeat on bar five), but the second solo chorus (last head since i have it only playing three choruses) goes back to the top of the form.
