Chords and brackets -- extended quality in parentheses?

I agree that having the extensions in parentheses or brackets is easier to read, but the problem is that the chords will use more horizontal space, which could make them overlap when having 4 chords in a single bar (which is already the case for some chord types, but adding brackets will make things worse).

I prefer shorter, not longer, chords.

For example, I never use ∆7 when ∆ alone is sufficient.

Same with ø and o. In jazz, adding the 7 is unnecessary, as it's implied.

One thing I like is that in complex chords iReal Pro places the numbers one above the other instead of stringing them out, as in b9 #5.

iReal Pro's 7alt is unnecessary, as alt alone will do. Same with -∆7, when -∆ says enough.

Cheers,
Jer
