Can I load the app onto my Iphone too?

Hi,
have just purchased the app for my Mac and wondering if there is a way to upload the app without an extra fee onto my Iphone5.
When I try and do this through my app store it asks for more money...which is maybe the way it goes , but I had been told this was possible,
