Adios Muchachos (I Get Ideas) - Julio Sanders

Hi Lauren,

You asked for "Adios Muchachos," and I'm happy to supply a chord chart.

This is a 1927 composition by the Argentine composer Juilio Sanders. It is a tango-canción, i.e., a tango with lyrics. It is a simple, diatonic 32-bar tune with an AABB structure.

There are a number of performances of this song on Youtube, but my favorite is the Americanized 1951 version by Tony Martin, with the English title "I Get Ideas." I remember this version from my childhood (shows how ancient I am), and I was happy to hear it for the first time in many years.

A lead sheet can be found in The Latin Fakebook published by Hal Leonard. A piano version can be found here: http://www.free-scores.com/download-sheet-music.php?pdf=39531# and https://www.8notes.com/scores/23438.asp

I've got a gig on Friday at a retirement community. This is a perfect song to add to my playlist. Thanks for reminding me of this song and getting me to write this chart.

Thank you so much Keith! I fell in love with this song listening to the "I get ideas" version by Louis Armstrong. I just listened to Tony Martin's version, it's beautiful, thank you for the discovery!
I hope you have a great gig today!

Lauren

You're very welcome, Lauren. If you like the Louis Armstrong version, check out the performance by Chloe Feoranzo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEg4gflsvIo

My gig went very well. I wound up selecting the Jazz - Bossa Nova style at 120 bpm for "Adios Muchachos" rather than play it as a traditional tango.
