A Foggy Day - George Gershwin

Problem with the form of A Foggy Day

A Foggy Day - George Gershwin

I'm trying to do the form of A Foggy Day from Frank Sinatra's version in Songs for Young Lovers. I've tried many things with codas but nothing works the way I want it to and I can't figure out the solution. Basically, the form I want would go as follows: VABACAC, skipping the first volta the second time the form is played.

Any help would be appreciated!

I think this will play VABACAC as you intend.

A Foggy Day (Sinatra) - George Gershwin

I added a Segno and DS al 2nd. To not play the turnaround the final time, I placed the END command in the penultimate measure.

That Sinatra arrangement works fine if it's only played once through.

But if you want to solo on it, it's going to play the whole ABACAC form, with the AC played twice each time.

Here's a version that plays (after the Verse) ABAC as many times as you want, and then ABACAC only the last time. The last A is a Coda, which then doubles back to the C section.

A Foggy Day (Sinatra)-Rev JE - George Gershwin

Cheers,

Yes, thank you! That is exactly what I asked for. After playing around with it a little bit I realised that it would be nice to be able to add one or two solos before the final ABACAC but it looks like Jer already thought about that!

Thank you so much guys, I would not have been able to figure this out on my own.
