    variations, fills and endings....

I'm not sure how much variation you'e looking for, but I'm hearing the drummer throw in different accents and fills, especially if you use a double-bar ending to a measure (as contrasted with a double-bar beginning in the next measure) or a repeat ending. That all also varies with the Style you...

    Jazz Practice Exercises

And more for beginning to intermediate bassists. These are backing tracks for the examples and exercises in Jim Stinnett's book, "Creating Walking Bass Lines" (1988), which did not come with a CD. [REVISED: 2015-3-9] Jim Stinnett (19)

2 sets of repeats . in loop, the second one doesn't repeat .

I'm not a programmer, so I have no idea what's tough to fix and what's easy. iReal Pro is amazing just as it is.

2 sets of repeats . in loop, the second one doesn't repeat .

Yeah, and when you cycle three lines of it, it's the 3rd line that doesn't repeat. Pretty important for practice. Happens when you have two or more repeated sections on the same line, too. Whichever is the last repeat section in the Cycled zone doesn't repeat.

I don't get it. I don't seem to have any problem entering text without barlines. I do it a lot. (See below.) Did this just become available with the latest update, maybe? Text below 1 - Unknown Composer Blues Triads: C Major - Example & Exs- 1 - Bob Magnusson, The Art Of Walking Bass (1999)...

Tenorman, you probably don't need these after all this time, but here are a couple of ways to make 64-bar ABAC templates. There are other ways, depending on what you need. [They won't post here, too long. I posted them to the Forum in the Using the Forums / Templates thread, attention to you.]

How can I tell when to sing first note?

Great job with that, Bob. Makes me wish I were a singer. That should be a sticky. Jack

Problem with the scrolling during Playback in landscape mode

Yep, that's the way. And if you have to edit the last line of a 13-line chart after it's completed, you cut one of the intermediate lines, store it somewhere else, go back and edit the last line of the chart, then retrieve the cut line and reinsert it.

Problem with the scrolling during Playback in landscape mode

So, good, Keith88 noticed it, too. I thought I'd mention that I have several 13-line charts that, of course, also have this problem. But I don't really expect that your fix can accomodate them, right? Thanks, Niki. -Jack

    Jazz Practice Exercises

Oh, oh, sorry. I completely misunderstood where you were coming from there. Your concern is fingering, not reading. I think you just learn your instrument and find out what works for you. Across the strings, up the strings, whatever. I've never heard of tabs for double bass, though. There are...

    Jazz Practice Exercises

Oh, man! Do yourself a huge favor and forget tabs. Teach yourself to read music, i.e. standard notation. This book IS for jazz double bass players with standard notation throughout. I've seen Bob many times, and i've never seen him play anything but double bass. Jazz musicians use standarrd...

Problem with the scrolling during Playback in landscape mode

(Honest, I really did search for this and I couldn't find anything, even though I can't be the only user who's noticed this.) When iReal Pro scrolls during playback in LANDSCAPE mode, the scrolling doesn't keep up with the highlighted measure being played when you get near the bottom of a full...

    Jazz Practice Exercises

Thanks, Bobsax. If just one person finds these useful, then it's worthwhile. So thanks, again. Bob's book starts out simply, but if you really do everything, it advances quickly. I met Bob once and thanked him for his book. He pointed out that he did the whole book in quarter notes only, which...
