PC or LINUX version (or suitable hack)?

Hello,

I am not an owner of a cell phone... refuse to have one... refuse to own a TV, either.

So, that puts me in the MAC or iPad category. I have neither of those, as well.

But, I am an avid PC person with several laptops. Is there a suitable "hack" available for getting iReal Pro to work on a PC. Is there available an Android emulator?

Is a PC version in the works?

Thank you kindly!!

LINUX
From user 'pacharanero':
I have just managed to get iRealPro working nicely on Linux, using Anbox https://anbox.io/ which is a container runtime of Android (not the same as a virtual machine - it runs MUCH faster)

After installing Anbox I used the script in this tutorial to install the Google Play Store https://www.linuxuprising.com/2018/07/anbox-how-to-install-google-play-store.html

Once that is installed, you sign in to the Play Store and download iRealPro essentially using the normal fashion (ie needs to be paid for as per usual)

You can drag the edge of the screen to resize it, and there are also some ADB commands to change resolution/pixel density of your screen and the size of your screen according to necessity, which you might want to experiment with. So far it's fast and scales to full screen on my HiDPI Dell XPS15 laptop to the size where you can easily read chord charts (lettering of chord symbols around 10mm high, good enough for drunk people in a poorly lit pub!)

All the features, eg forum download of Playlists, and sound playback appear to work fully.

You now have iRealPro working on Linux with a decent keyboard and display (unlike trying to use a tablet)

Maybe easiest: Install the Android Studio from Google. It makes it easy to create and configure virtual android devices. Just create your tablet and install iRealPro.

Hello,

I've also had success with this on Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa x86_64.

To install anbox, I followed this tutorial: https://www.fosslinux.com/13176/how-to-install-and-run-android-apps-on-ubuntu-using-anbox.htm.

Then I used the link you provided for the google play store app.

When I launched the app I noticed clicking on the "main playlists" brings up a blank page, as a work around - I just imported the playlists from each of the different sections on the forum.

Additionally, when I tried to import the playlists, I was unable to utilize the touch controls - so I had to use the tab key until it was on the import button, and then press enter to import.

I am experiencing a slight amount of lag -- audio is ahead - graphics are behind a little. But it is totally usable.

IReal Pro on Ubuntu 20.04 : Install ok

Good morning,

just to confirm that I installed IReal Pro on Ubutuntu, it works nice.

1/ install Anbox on ubuntu (after install, sometimes it needs delay before showing content of Anbox)
2/ install Google Play on Anbox ( I tried to avoid Google Play, using APK, but I dosen't find/generate APK, but may be you can...)

useful link : https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/run-android-apps-games-linux/

3/ install IReal Play from Google Play
4/ Import songs list from the forums

then enjoy working on pc :)

Good morning,

just to confirm that I installed IReal Pro on Ubutuntu, it works nice.

I'm trying to get iReal Pro running on my Ubuntu Studio 23.10 box, and have been going around in circles with no progress.

Anbox was apparently deprecated in February 2023, and Anbox's Github page appears to suggest using Waydroid on systems running Wayland (Ubuntu 23.10 runs Wayland). I've run across a few other sites that indicate that Waydroid is built to continue the Anbox function, but on systems running Wayland. OK . . .

I've got Waydroid running, but it doesn't come with Google's Play Store, but I found a way to install Android apps from the command line as long as I have the .apk file for the app. But I can't find the .apk file for iReal Pro. There are a few repositories for installing Android apps (APKPure, APKMirror, F-Droid, APKDownloader, etc), but they either do not offer iReal Pro, or they require installing an app just to look. But, but, but . . .

I understand there may not be a sufficient business argument for porting iReal Pro to Windows or Linux. (Although doesn't Linux have some common roots with Android and Mac/iOS?) Does anyone know a way I can get the Google Play Store onto Waydroid? Or is there a reliable source to download the .apk file so I can install it directly from the command line?

Any insights/suggestions?
