New song - how to limit the # of bars per line - or enter a NEWLINE

When entering a new song, how can you set the number of bars displayed per line?
Or, how do you enter a NEWLINE? When I enter a new song, it starts out with 3 bars
per line, then it starts splitting bars between lines.

I found a thread with this question, but there was no answer on it.
