I can not download a playlist of any size or an individual song to my Android device. Has anyone had this problem? If yes, how did you resolve it?

Have you the latest version of iReal b for Android? (currently v1.6) Check in the Play store.
You could also try a different browser, Dolphin, Opera etc.
