Minor Pentatonic

I've been trying to select a chord in Editor which is a Dmin7 with a fourth (G). This is known as a D minor pentatonic. How do I create such a chord? Alternatively I could use Dmin7/G (G in the bass) but I can't work out how to add a /bass note.

Another voicing might be Fadd9/D
(Inversions, slash-chords, specify bass note chords) are written by simply typing the forward-slash ”/” and desired note after the chord in the chord-entry field when editing. (iOS and Mac) in android, I think you just continue through the choices: select root, select quality, then select bass note (or not).

Right Keith.
Good reminder, simplicity works.
You don't have to play all the notes all the time...
Thanks

Why not just type in Dm11?

The point of a so-called "minor pentatonic chord" is that it uses only notes from the minor pentatonic scale. In D minor, it's D F G A C.

Dm7/G, F6/G, and Fadd9/D all do this.

Dm11 does not. It contains an E, the 9th, which is outside of the D minor pentatonic scale.

In the following voicing, from low to high, one gets the "So What" chord, alternating with the same voicing a whole step up:

D G C F A, alternating with E A D G B.

Unfortunately, iReal Pro does not yet have the capacity to specify voicings. It's on the wish list.

Cheers,
Jer
