Instrument mapping for midi export

Hi!

A nice feature would be to be able to chose the instrument mapping when exporting to a MIDI file. For example to chose that the first track should use General MIDI instrument number 18 rather than what was used by iReal Pro player.

It would be particularly useful to be able to chose a given GM Drum Kit. Because when the MIDI is exported, it maps on GM Standard Drum Kit, which is not that good for jazz...

Hope you'll take this into consideration!

Best Regards.

Good point. It doesn’t sound like this feature is coming, though it’d be very useful.

The drums are the trickiest. GM would help… as would some kind of drum plugin.
In the meantime, we could probably make our own drumkits by assigning the correct sounds to the notes played.

We use our own internal mapping system for the sounds we have inside iReal Pro because of the different genres iReal Pro plays for all the different song feels, playback styles available (whereas for a song in a DAW, you might choose a specific Latin or House, Rock, or Jazz kit), so we have more than one snare, the Count in sound Clicks are given midi note values, brush sounds etc.)

Some options:
1 delete the midi drum track iReal Pro generates then use drum loops as desired to create the track
2 work out the drum notes from the iReal Pro track and remap them to your drum instrument(s) sounds
3 export (share) the song's drum only audio, then import into your DAW. Mute instruments in the iReal Pro mixer, leaving only the drums playing, make sure you have finalised the tempo in your DAW for the song and use that tempo for the song before you render the audio :)
