Synchronicity II - Sting (Gordon Sumner)

Another song by The Police, from their terrific last album, Synchronicity. Worked on this one for a while, & discovered that I can use a 1st Ending without a double bar/double dot repeat sign, IF I use the D.S. al 2nd Ending text command - ! Saves lots of space, & solves the problem of pop songs...

    It's A Mistake - Colin Hay

Another Colin Hay song. First released by Men At Work on their "Cargo" album (1983), but the link below is from Colin's "Man At Work" (2003) solo release, which features acoustic versions &/or re-recorded versions of his hits w/ Men At Work. This version is essentially the same as the original...

You Can't Get What You Want ('Till You Know What You Want) - Joe Jackson

You Can't Get What You Want ('Till You Know What You Want) - Joe Jackson From his excellent "Body and Soul" album. Pop-Smooth @ 126 bpm, Piano & Slap Bass. For the Solo section, I skipped the Bass solo, too hard for me to notate what he's doing.

Black Coffee in Bed - Chris Difford-Glenn Tilbrook

No, not the jazz standard "Black Coffee", but the great pop/soul song by the British pop band Squeeze. Worked long & hard on this one to (hopefully) get it right. I use Pop-Smooth, @ 110, w/ Leslie organ & Picked Bass. This sorta sounds too fast at 110, but I think that's because the bass is so...

Happiness Is Just Around the Bend - Brian Auger

Cool tune from British keyboardist Brian Auger's Oblivion Express album, "Closer To It!" (1973). This song was one of my first introductions to jazz music (I was 15-16 yrs. old when it came out, & I only heard it because for some reason it was on the playlist of a local rock radio station)...

    Chord Diagram size

I really like how the chord diagrams are displayed during playback on my iPad version of iReal. I like how they only take up the top half of the screen, & when the song gets halfway down the page, the chord diagram window jumps to the top. This way, you can always see where you're at in the song...

The Moon Was Yellow (and the Night Was Young) - Fred Ahlert-Edgar Leslie

Beautiful, mysterious song, by Fred Ahlert & Edgar Leslie. This song was recorded by Frank Sinatra, among others, but my version here is based on the recording by a wonderful singer from Baltimore named Ethel Ennis. Latin - Brazil: Bossa Acoustic, @84 bpm...

Mary's Little Boy Child - Jester Hairston

I've written a version of this song by the late, great Afr.-Amer. spiritual composer & arranger, Jester Hairston. I'm posting two diff. versions, because I sort of have a dilemma: Mr. Hairston identified this song as a Calypso, although most recordings (Andy Williams, even Harry Belafonte)...

    Todd Rundgren songs

In celebration of Todd Rundgren FINALLY being put in the R&R Hall of Fame, I've been working on entering several of his songs into iReal, so here's a Todd playlist. Most of these - "Hello, It's Me", & the songs from his "A Wizard, A True Star" album are ones I did from scratch. The other two...

The Solid Rock (My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less) - William Bradbury-Edward Mote

After looking in vain all over the internet for a background track that replicated Charlie Hall's version of this song, I made one myself. Mostly follows the original arrangement, I left out the long instrumental section near the end (you could loop that if you wanted to). Pop-Rock style @ 154...
