I don't know what you want to try, but you might be able to use the import/export functions which do the encoding for you. The song links (in the forums) have plain-text song files, more or less. You just need to run them through an unescape script.

What I've done is use the text feature to add a few lyric reminders with the chords. It takes a bit of creativity, and you can't just write out complete lyrics, but a few starting words here and there work out OK.
