All Or Nothing At All - Arthur Altman-Jack Lawrence

"All Or Nothing At All" was composed by Arthur Altman with lyrics by Jack Lawrence, not by Cole Porter. However, it is a great tune. It was released in 1939 and is musically interesting. It has a 64-bar AABA form instead of the usual 32 bars, and the bridge in in a key unrelated to the original...

    Manhattan Serenade - Louis Alter

A bit of additional background info on "Manhattan Serenade:" The Dorsey version uses a secondary theme of the original composition. The first recording (1928) of "Manhattan Serenade" can be heard at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJjhVJ3x1Pw. In fact, "Manhattan Serenade" is a movement of a...

    Little Lamb - Jule Styne

Whoops! I meant to post my message above to the "Small World" thread. I remember the Mathis version very well from our teenage years.

    Little Lamb - Jule Styne

Hi Jer, This is a great tune. I noted that you just posted an arrangement of "Little Lamb," also from Gypsy. Jule Styne was a great songwriter. I like your chart--it is more suitable than mine for a melody instrumentalist or singer who needs a fuller arrangement. You're missing beautiful fall...

    Learning simple improvisation

Look for tunes with lots of ii-V and ii-V-I progressions. Try: "Satin Doll," "Crazy Rhythm," "Blue Moon," "Autumn Leaves," "Misty," "Polka Dots And Moonbeams" to name a few. Learn to play the melodies in the right hand with 3-note rootless voicings in the left. When you can do this, play along...

Questions on the Feature Requests Survey

Yes, Bob, I'm a pianist and always turn the chord instrument off on the mixer. My complaint about the Swing Two/Four style is with the percussion. Please go to a previous posting of mine: https://forums.irealpro.com/threads/I-ve-Told-Every-Little-Star-Jerome-Kern.15679/ to hear what I mean. The...

Questions on the Feature Requests Survey

Bob, tacet directs an instrumental or vocal part to be silent. In the context of iReal Pro, a tacet would be a period of silence for all instruments, including percussion. At present, we have N.C. (no chord) marks that silence all instruments except percussion. A tacet would silence all...

Audio Lag when playing through Bluetooth Speakers

No noticeable lag or any stuttering with an iPad Mini (2nd gen) and any of three Bluetooth devices (a Bose Soundlink III and two Logitech Bluetooth receivers). It appears that the problem is with the Samsung tablets. I've had really good luck with iPads and iReal Pro.

Always in My Heart - Ernesto Lecuona Casado-Kim Gannon

You're welcome. Although I became familiar with this song many years ago, I really didn't learn it until now. I find it so attractive that I plan to include it in my playlists for upcoming gigs. So thank you for having re-introduced it to me.

Always in My Heart - Ernesto Lecuona Casado-Kim Gannon

Siempre En Mi Corazón (Always In My Heart) was composed by Ernesto Lecuona (1896-1963) in 1942 and featured in the film "Always In My Heart." It was nominated for an Academy Award for best song in 1943 but lost to "White Christmas." This lovely song is performed either as a rhumba or a ballad...

    wireless speakers problem

As a further update, pairing may be the issue. Sometimes, one of the devices indicates that it is paired, and the other device does not. This has happened to me. In such a case, the speaker should be reset (look at your instructions on how to do it). On the iPad, make the iPad "forget" the...

    wireless speakers problem

I use a Bose Soundlink III with my iPads without any problem; in fact, the sound can fill a large room. Are you sure that the phone and the speaker are properly paired? The issue may be that the Soundlink has its own volume controls which may be set too low. Have you tried to increase the volume...

Bob, why not a simple G7sus? It lacks an "A" but it otherwise should do the job.

    Major #11 chord request

Cyrille, I'm curious to know how you would voice this chord. I'm used to chords like a C major 7 #11, voiced C E B D F#, leaving the fifth out. Often, I'd add an A on top to make it a C maj 13 #11.
